Early in the morning Cemil drove us to the airport where we said goodbye to all our friends and also to a marvelous week in Turkey!

After the meetings the teachers went to a very nice restaurant for lunch. It was a very pleasant moment not only because of the environment but for the food as well!

23/10/09 BACK TO SCHOOL IN GAZIANTEP




We all returned to school in Gaziantep. Students joined their partners during classes and teachers discussed about the Romanian performance.

22/10/09 DINNER AT AN OPEN AIR RESTAURANT NEXT TO THE RIVER TIGRIS

Back from Mount Nemrud, we all had dinner at an open-air restaurant where there was a celebration of a wedding. There were only women, about 300 or maybe more!

At midday everybody met at a restaurant for a typical lunch before restarting our coach journey, this time heading to mount Nemrud.

Teachers and students left the hotel early in the morning to start a guided walking tour of Sanliurfa.


20/10/09 ARRIVING IN SANLIURFA






In the evening we arrived in the large town of Sanliurfa (Urfa).We went straight to the hotel and soon we were asked to go to the restaurant for dinner. During the meal, a group of musicians played traditional songs with typical instruments which  tempted students and teachers to join in the dances. At twelve o'clock we celebrated Celeste's birthday. It was one of the best evenings in Turkey.


21/10/09 DEYRULZAFERAN MONASTERY NEAR MARDIN





In the afternoon we visited another typical orthodox monastery which was not far from Mardin, in an area surrounded by pistachio plants, cultivated by the monks and which provides them with their most important income to survive in those areas. Rock carving and silver wearing are most important sources of income, too. In the distance, we can see a sort of holes on the top of the mountains which used to be inhabited in ancient times.
